Chocolate anyone?! On Thursday, we performed a yummy science experiment. With our study of heat, we questioned the sun's ability to melt chocolate. We put chocolate on top of graham crackers and set them out in the sun on a cookie sheet. We had to wait all morning, but after lunch we had a delicious surprise. The sun melted our chocolate and gave us a yummy treat! We LOVE being scientists!

I am so excited to say that I am finished assessing all of the kiddos on the beginning of the year assessments. That means I can start small group instruction in reading! Your child will bring home guided reading homework at least twice a week. The kids are going to be so excited to have homework!
We had a fun experiment in science. We used colored water, straws, and wax paper in a color mixing experiment. Primary colors were mixed to make secondary colors. It was so cool!

We had a fabulous presentation from the author and illustrator of Pete the Cat. One of our classmates got to sing a song with the author! How exciting!
As kindergarten scientists, we explored our sense of taste with a taste test. There were lots of mixed reviews, but most of our class only enjoyed the sweet taste...honey.
We also had 3 little pigs and a wolf running around our classroom as we acted out the classic fairy tale The Three Little Pigs while learning about story elements. I have to say we have some great actors and actresses!

Short but great-that was our week! We learned about our sense of sight, hearing, and we even stuck our hands into a "feely" box to use our sense of touch. It was cool! What was our hardest job of the week? Trying to write like a kindergartener...using lowercase letters in our names. We will keep working on it!
